Abstract:
Elections have recently been held in the Spanish State. The PNV, the hegemonic party in the Western Basque Country, has lost many votes in these elections. Those votes were borrowed votes, coming from the Spanish parties, which it had won when it renounced sovereignism after the time of the Basque president Ibarretxe. Now those borrowed votes have gone back to Spanish parties. The author regrets that EH BILDU, the Basque pro-independence left, is following the same tactic as the PNV: putting sovereignism aside to collect borrowed votes. Spanish votes, not pro-independence votes.
