Abstract:
Recently the Spanish socialist party (PSOE) of President Sanchez signed a pact with the Catalan pro-independence party of ex-president Puigdemont (JUNTS). The latter pledged to facilitate the investiture of the Spanish president in exchange for amnesty and other political quid pro quos for the Catalans.
The author of this article analyses this pact and stresses that an important part of Catalan pro-independence movement has considered this pact a step backwards in the process of national liberation.
