Abstract:
In this article, JJ Agirre wants to clarify that not all cultural production made in the Basque Country deserves to be called “Basque”. Do Basque singers who sing in Spanish (or French) make “Basque culture”? And Basque writers who write in Spanish? Can the Basque-Spanish writer Fernando Aramburu, who lives in Germany but writes in Spanish, be considered a representative of “German culture”?
It is alarming, according to JJ Agirre, that a former Deputy Minister of Culture of the Basque Government does not see such clear evidence.
