Abstract:
The author of the article compares the evident awareness that feminism has introduced among women with the little awareness that we Basque speakers have about our unfair linguistic situation.
The dominant ideology (Franco-Spanish) has managed to impose its narrative on us: we are not aware of this linguistic oppression. If linguistic awareness is a good indicator of our national consciousness, it is evident that both are very weak at present, as a consequence of a worrying ideological involution. Not being aware of our oppression is a qualitative leap in our national assimilation process.
