Abstract:
Mr. Pako Sudupe emphasizes in this article that the Basque language is, in the Basque Public Health Service (Osakidetza), a second rank language. And that even the candidate for President of the Basque Government of the Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ-PNV) recently stated that knowledge of the Basque language should not be an impediment to hiring doctors in Osakidetza.
However, while knowledge of Basque is not essential to work in the Basque Public Health System, knowledge of Spanish is essential. This is a clear example of the subordinate situation of our national language.
